Programme Overview*
|
This programme is designed for practitioners teaching adults in a higher education context, or teaching or training adults in the community or workplace. The programme enables participants to explore and apply higher education teaching theories, philosophies and methodologies, underpinned by a PBL approach.
Participants will investigate practice, consider practice in the local context, engage in critical reflection on practice through observation and feedback, as well as conduct research in higher education teaching and learning.
The programme is supported with an integrated Virtual Learning Environment, and Educational IT based applications.

Entry and Selection*
|
- Applicants must possess a minimum experience of teaching in a higher (or equivalent) setting of three years
- Applicants must be competent in their use of the English language in reading, writing, speaking and listening, as demonstrated by interview, IELTS of 6.5 or equivalent, and/or tutor employment contract with Bahrain Polytechnic.
- Applicants must demonstrate experience in teaching in higher education
- Applicants must have an introductory qualification in teaching and learning).

Selection Criteria
In selecting students for available places this programme, Bahrain Polytechnic will use two broad sets of criteria:
Priority will be given to:
- Bahrain Polytechnic staff
- Highest performance of English competence as demonstrated by interview.
- Candidates with the highest performance in an initial teacher training qualification – e.g. CTTL or demonstrated equivalent (level 6)
Selection Process
- Employed by Bahrain Polytechnic as a member of teaching staff
- Applicants ranked based on English competence / initial teacher training qualification performance
- Panel interview if required – (e.g. English as a second language speaker)

Qualification Aim*
|
This programme is designed for people teaching adults in a higher education context, or teaching or training adults in the community or workplace.
The aim is to develop participants as effective practitioners in leading teaching and learning, assessment, curriculum development, educational research and scholarship in higher education. Graduates of the Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning for Higher Education will function at an advanced level (NQF level 9), implementing a range of innovative participant -focused approaches to teaching and learning.

Graduates are able to pathway on to the following qualifications with other Academic Institutions or Professional Bodies:
- PG Diploma and Masters level study in adult education
- Professional body recognition and / or accreditation in HE Teaching and Learning
Graduates are likely to be employed using the specific skills gained in this qualification, in the following occupations:
