Course Details

Course Code: EN8990
Course Title: Aerodynamics in Industrial Design
Short Title: Aero
Course Level:: Level 8
Valid From:: 2025/2026 Sem 1
Credits:: 15
Owner: Engineering Technology
Assessment Method: Achievement
Course Aim

The aim of this course is to provide the students with advanced knowledge and practical skills across a broad range of applications related to applied aerodynamics, e.g. lifting surfaces of flying vehicles, wind turbine and turbomachinery blades geometry, body wakes (vortex shedding), car - building aerodynamics, natural ventilation, all related to industrial design. Based on an appropriate theoretical background, the students will be able to understand how various parameters influence the aerodynamic loading and performance of various bodies exposed to the wind and ways to promote sustainability following optimization procedures.
