Course Aim

This course aims to expand students' knowledge and skills in creating special effects for film. This would build upon a foundation of basic special effects concepts. Students will master advanced techniques in both 2D compositing and manipulation software and 3D modeling, animation, and rendering programs, and explore the integration of 2D and 3D elements to create seamless and believable special effects. Students will also develop a strong understanding of current industry practices and workflows for professional special effects production.

1 Demonstrate critical knowledge and understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of advanced 2D and 3D special effects techniques used in film production.

3 Critically evaluate own work and effectively reflect on the technologies and techniques used in creating advanced special effects and possible future improvements.
