Course Aim

This unit introduces the concepts of signal processing including transformations between continuous and discrete signals, time and frequency domains using Fourier series and Fourier transforms, and the characterisation of linear systems via the Laplace transform. Statistical methods, random variables, probability theory and applications are covered.

CILO
On Completion of this course, the learner will be able to
# Learning Outcome Description
1 Demonstrate advanced knowledge of theories used to analyze signals and systems in the time and frequency domains.
2 Apply and adapt analytical concepts and methods to solve problems involving signals and systems for a broad array of real-life applications.
3 Critically evaluate, synthesise information, and document the design and simulation results for signals and systems problems subject to realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
