Course Aim

This course enables learners to critically analyse and synthesize policies and laws of modern international trade agreements focusing on the complexities of bilateral and multilateral arrangements across international, regional, and domestic trading environments. The learner will develop deep insights, knowledge and critical awareness of international treaties, and the role of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in dispute resolution.

1 Demonstrate critical knowledge and understanding of specialised theories and concepts of international trade law and international trade law instruments.
2 Apply specialized theories, concepts, and ethical practices in international trade law to evaluate its impact on global economic relations and its implications for national trade policies.
3 Critically assess the role of international trade law in addressing contemporary challenges such as environmental protection, labour rights, intellectual property protection, etc.
4 Communicate at a professional level in both oral and written formats on international trade law practices in global, regional, and local business contexts.
5 Operate at a professional level with substantial responsibility for individual and group work activities on complex and undefined problems within the international trade law field.
