Course Aim

To provide students with intermediate knowledge and skills to create well-researched documentary films, through researching and finding impactful stories. The course will focus on employing theoretical knowledge, professional filmmaking skills, and storytelling techniques to produce factual productions.

1 Apply integrated research abilities in gathering and critically evaluating a wide range of varied information sources, including ethical considerations, to synthesize a coherent form to support factual productions.
2 Demonstrate specialized techniques of pre-production planning for digital documentary productions to anticipate potential production challenges and opportunities.
3 Use filmmaking equipment and software proficiently and draw upon a strong understanding of contemporary and historical documentary style to produce digital documentaries that follow current industry standards.
4 Critically assess own performance in taking responsibility for significant contributions to a project in a collaborative environment working towards a collective goal.
