Course Aim

To provide students with advanced skills and knowledge of film direction and production. The course will focus on auteur theory, to prepare the student to control various aspects of film production, depending on advanced knowledge of all the key elements of film theory and directing techniques of famous auteurs throughout history.

1 Apply advanced research skills to examine film direction and production timelines, focusing on the contemporary practices of film production teams.
2 Plan, prepare and present appropriate preparatory and reflective documentation material with a suitable budget to produce film projects.
3 Use advanced filmmaking equipment and software and draw upon a strong understanding of film theory and history to direct and produce engaging motion pictures.
4 Analyze and translate screenplay components into a visual story to convey meaning using effective storytelling and directing techniques for motion pictures.
