Entry and Selection*

The certificate is targeting health care professionals in general. The students should be of a minimum of associate degree holder, worked for a year in a health care setting, and pass an English Exam minimum of level B1.

Qualification Aim*

The certificate aims to

  • Deliver a successful and effective Infection Prevention and Control studies programme to certificate level, which is distinctively practical and highly interactive, yet aware of relevant issues in IPC of today.

  • Assist the students to be aware of IPC guidlines, standards and policies that ensure the maintenance of healthy settings for health care clients.

  • Develop student’s awareness of issues related to IPC and their role and responsiblities that hey will perform to maintain a healthy enviroment. 

  • Develop students’ abilities to expand their knowledge, adapt and apply skills such as research and critical thinking to any situation.

  • Produce graduates who have broad-based IPC related knowledge and skills.

  • Produce graduates with an understanding of, and capabilities within the field of IPC.

  • Produce graduates with good communication, collaboration skills and effective team contributors with basic leadership skills.

Description
Demonstrate detailed knowledge of microbiology concepts, the role of immune system in defense against infection, and the quality IPC improvement programs considering quality improvement guidelines and standards for national, regional and international best practices.
Evaluate infectious disease status and progress by analyzing statistical data and applying epidemiological basic and some advanced skills.
Plan infection prevention strategies based on risk assessment analysis in a health care setting and demonstrate safe environment for patients through application of infection control principles and practices.
Demonstrate professionalism in accordance to the principles of Bahrain ethical code of conduct
